Randy Udell has the skillset and experience to effectively advocate for and represent the 47th District in the Assembly.

A Fitchburg resident since 1998, Randy Udell is finishing up his first term as a State Representative from District 47. Randy is currently a member of the Committee on Financial Institutions, Committee on Forestry, Parks, and Outdoor Recreation, Committee on Insurance, Law Revision Committee, and the Governor’s Broadband Task Force.

Randy previously served as one of two alders representing District 4 on the Fitchburg City Council from 2020 to 2024, encompassing the western and southern parts of the city. He previously was council president for two years and chair of the Finance Committee for three years, which oversees the City’s $25,000,000 operating budget. Randy was the first LGBTQ+ person to ever serve as a local elected official in Fitchburg.

From 2024-2026, he served as a Dane County Board supervisor representing District 33, which consists of the southern 2/3rds of the city of Fitchburg and includes a mixture of urban, suburban, and rural constituents. He was a member of the Public Works & Transportation Committee and still serves as an at-large member of the county’s Broadband Task Force. As the representative for the 47th Assembly District, Randy bring a unique combination of prior elected experience, extensive knowledge of business and finance, and a deep commitment to making state government work for both residents of the 47th District and Wisconsin as a whole.

He has also been elected as the Treasurer of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin since 2015, elected by Democrats from across the state. Randy serves as a core member of Devin Remiker’s team, overseeing a multi-million dollar budget for the state party. He has previously served as Chair and Treasurer of the Second Congressional District Democrats.

Randy grew up as one of five children in a working-class family in Janesville, and is a fifth generation Wisconsinite. As an undergraduate at UW-Whitewater, Randy served as the president of the campus’s Young Democrats and a student senator, in addition to working for Congressman Les Aspin, a longtime representative for Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District.

Now retired from a 30-year career in finance and planning as a telecommunications engineer, Randy and his husband Brad live in Fitchburg’s Seminole Forest neighborhood with their rescue dog Cooper.

I became a public servant to help make sure local government in Fitchburg and Dane County works for everyone. I am excited to have the chance to do the same with state government as your representative in the Assembly.
