Why I’m Running
My deeply held belief, and my experience in local government, is that government works best when we bring people together to solve tough problems. I want to bring those values to the State Assembly.
When my husband Brad and I moved to Seminole Forest twenty eight years ago, we fell in love with the Fitchburg area. We treasure Fitchburg’s vibrant culture, the mix of urban and rural environments, our beautiful parks and the caring, engaged residents who live here.
I am running for re-election to the Assembly in the 47th District, which includes most of Fitchburg, the southern half of McFarland, Stoughton, and all or parts of the towns of Albion, Dunn, Dunkirk, Pleasant Springs, and Rutland. As a local elected official, I have already represented and advocated for urban, suburban, and rural constituents simultaneously. When I worked for Congressman Les Aspin in the 1980s, I regularly completed casework for all three of those groups, as the 1st Congressional District extended from the farm fields of Green County all the way east to Lake Michigan. Likewise, the 47th District needs an experienced voice that understands the unique needs of and will advocate for its urban, suburban, and rural constituents alike.
I served as one of two alders representing District 4 on the Fitchburg City Council from 2020-2024. I spent two years as Council President and three years chairing Finance Committee during my tenure. From 2024 to 2026, I served as a Dane County Board supervisor for District 33, which includes the southern 2/3rds of Fitchburg. I enjoy using the perspective and experience I have gained from my time in local government and working in telecommunications to benefit all residents of our state.
Progress happens when everyone has a voice and a seat at the table. As a legislator, I’m focused on bringing people together. My style is to listen more than I talk, consider all points of view, and collaborate to find mutually-beneficial solutions for all stakeholders. I enjoy listening to people and helping them solve their problems.
I ask for your support to continue representing the 47th District on Tuesday, November 3rd.
Let’s keep moving the 47th District and Wisconsin forward, together!
